Update

For those of you who are new to this site, it may seem strange that the first post is called “Update”, but there’s a very good reason for this. Many of you already know the reason… For many years, I published a blog at this URL called “The Assembling of the Church”. (For those who may be interested, that blog is still available by clicking the link.)

So, what has been going on since I stopped publishing my last blog? Well, I’ve gotten older, of course. But very little has changed. I’m still married with two children. I’m still sarcastic (perhaps even more sarcastic). I still work for CtiPath (although I’m now the Chief Operating Officer). And, I still care very deeply about the church (although I’m more interested in living it than arguing about it).

However, I have a few new interests as well. (No, not politics.) Hopefully you will stick around to learn about those interests.

As always, I encourage comments and discussion (keeping it civil, of course).

Welcome to my blog… and for my long time readers, welcome back!

  1. You’re back! I knew couldn’t stay away from blogging forever. Fairly certain I’m an entirely different person now than when you last posted, but I still can’t wait to see what you have to say. Welcome back, Alan!

  2. Glad to know you are still there, healthy and live well with your family. Off course, faith is about living, not what you say or other people say. Worship the Most High God in truth and in spirit is your life itself. Please continue on with your responsibilities and do well everything in honor of your Creator. God bless.

  3. Welcome back Alan

I did a lot of blogging in the past and believe it or not you’re the one that I always remembered. And this is why. When you spoke the word it seemed like you dug deeper than most, matter fact you’re the guy that did the deepest of all the people that I talk to you. That’s what I remembered and enjoyed in conversing with you . I personally love getting into the Greek because one little Greek word will tell a huge story and most people never get that deep and it seemed like you did.

Looking forward to some great conversations and discussions and of course, absolutely, with A practice mindset attitude.

Which reminds me, you mention you love the church, therefore I got to mention one verse, and only one verse that communicates loudly.

One of the concluding summaries in the book of Acts– Acts 1:1—2:46……. concluding summary verse …….2:47

Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

In the Aramaic Peshitta text, The opening phrase reads, ” they were praising God “. “They” refers to the believers throughout the first section of Acts.

Again good to see you’re back in action my man

I really appreciate that, and it sounds a lot like where I am at. 🙂

  5. Alan,

It is good to see you back! I’m thankful you “I still care very deeply about the church (although I’m more interested in living it than arguing about it). ”

“newer topics” ? Don’t make me hold my breath too long!

  6. You’re back! I think you can tell from the comments that we’ve all missed you. I haven’t blogged for the last year or so while I’ve been studying full time. Looking forward to following your work and connecting in with your community once again.

  7. Alan, so good to see you back. I often thought of you, and wondered what was happening in your life.

While I am at it, may I have permission to post material from your old blog site into the Oikos Australia Face Book page, please. (Normally it is a link back to the original blog/posting, with full credit.)

    Welcome!

  8. I’m GLAD that you’ve returned to blogging, Alan! You opened the world to living as the church instead of going to church for me and I am GRATEFUL! Abundant GRACE to you and your family!
